The McDevitt brothers all decided to stay in the music business after graduating from high school. Some how the typical college career path didn't seem to fit their ability to work with their hands. After discovering the North Bennet Street School and their various instrument making and rebuilding programs Jason, and Joe decided to attend the prestige school to further their knowledge in the instrument world. Jason going to the Piano program and Joe to the Violin program. Jon saw how rewarding the instrument making and repairing business could be and decided to attend programs in Vermont to build and repair Guitars.
Jason, oldest of the 3 brothers, attended NBSS in 2005 for the Piano Tuning program and was lucky enough to be selected to attend the second year program in 2006 for the Piano Rebuilding program. NBSS taught Jason how to tune and completely rebuild pianos of various makes and sizes. Since graduation, Jason was certified as a Piano Technician and is self-employed in tuning and rebuilding.
Joseph, middle of the three brothers, attended the violin making and restoration program at NBSS in 2006, where he learned how to hand-make Violins, Violas, and Cellos, along with a variety of other restoration jobs. While attending school in Boston, Joe worked for a very well-established maker where he helped make and restore old, fine instruments, expanding his knowledge of the craft. Presently, Joe is the certified Master Luthier at James E. Fegley Violin Shop located in Reading, Pa, as he continues perfecting his craft and providing quality work for students and professional players throughout the country.
Jon, youngest of the three brothers, attended a variety of workshops in Vermont where he learned how to make and repair Guitars, Banjos, Mandolins, and Ukuleles. In addition, Jon takes yearly courses to keep his craft most up-to-date with current repair and making techniques. Jon intends on continue his education as he continues perfecting his guitar craft.
